of obama care, right, and who famously, the citizens of kentucky have reaped the benefit. kentucky now leads the nation in new sign-ups for health insurance, and that would be huge anywhere. it is a particularly huge deal for a state whose population is as unhealthful as kentucky's is. i don't mean any offense by it, but kentucky's population ranks at the bottom or toward the bottom of the nation's health ratings in lots and lots and lots of different categories, and kentucky has a lot of uninsured people. and it's the exact same deal two states over in mississippi, but in these two states, in the same part of the country, with the same health problems in their populations and a lot of the same challenges, one of them, kentucky, is now best in the nation in terms of people getting health insurance, and one of them, mississippi, is now worst in the nation, and not because they wouldn't know how to fix their problem. they knew how to fix their problem, but they stopped fixing it. mississippi has enrolled a smaller percentage of its population than any other state in the nation. they do n

the page on obama care. today the president will kick off a new three-week campaign to refocus the public's attention to the positive aspects of the health care law. senior administration officials tell politico the white house will target different benefits of the law each day leading up to the december 23rd deadline to receive coverage by the beginning of the new year. roughly 100,000 people signed up for health insurance through the federal exchange last month. of course, up from the under 27,000 who successfully signed up for coverage in the month of october. meanwhile, the white house picked up a key legal victory yesterday as the supreme court said it would not hear a case challenging the law's employer mandate. however, a new poll shows one key group president obama was hoping would sign up for coverage, the so-called young invincibles, is the least informed about the law. gallup finds just 63% of adults under the age of 30 say they are familiar with the law. that's at least nine points lower than any other group, suggesting the white house, well, they've got a little bit of work t

they wanted to do two months ago. start a public campaign for the health care law over law. president obama will kick-start the e effort with an event at the white house this afternoon. of course this comes nine weeks after the first rollout which was marked by glitches and crashes as well as repeated promises from the administration that things would get better. >> nobody's madder than me about the website is working as well as it should, which means it's going to get fixed. >> no one ever imagined the volume of issues and problems that we've had, and we must fix it. >> there is an enormous amount of work going on on a daily basis to make the necessary fixes and to upgrade the site with the goal of making it fully functional for the vast majority of users by the end of this month. >> i am confident that by by the time we look back on this next year that people are going to say this is working well and it's helping a lot of people. >> after all that, the white house finally appears comfortable enough to say that the website is workable and workable enough to start promoting it. late yesterd
not only how obama care will eventually be phased in or whether it will be phased in at all, but what i'm interested in as a market guy is we're talking about 1/6 of the economy. whether you're for it or against it or you believe it's going to work or not going to work, in the end it's 1/6 of the economy, we're the world's leading business channel and it's in our wheelhouse. but one thing that seems to be going on today in it can that is not getting a lot of air time that i find rather fascinating is that the house judiciary committee is holding hearings and they're holding hearings on something rather, i don't know, maybe call it esoteric, maybe call it extreme but let's get to the crux of the matter and i'll get there through an analogy. let's say when we saw at the end of last year that the payroll walked out in january and said basically, listen, i'm going to take a swath of those people whose taxes are going to go up on the payroll tax and i'm going to delay that for a year, would that fly? i don't know that it would fly. we have a constitution and checks and balances. but let's ge
